Bob King/RedfernsA couple of Eagles concert specials will be soaring onto AXS TV in the coming weeks.
The first, Eagles: Farewell I Tour — Live from Melbourne, will premiere this Sunday, March 31, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, marking the first time the special will be shown on television since its initial release in 2005.
The film features highlights from a trio of shows that the Eagles played in November 2004 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, and boasts performances of 29 songs, including such classic tunes as “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Already Gone,” “Tequila Sunrise,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” “Hotel California” and “Desperado.” AXS TV has provided ABC Radio with an exclusive preview clip of “Peaceful Easy Feeling.”
The second special is Eagles: Hell Freezes Over, which will debut on Sunday, May 5, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The unplugged show was filmed live in 1994 at Burbank Studios near Los Angeles for a cable special and captured the band’s late 1970s lineup performing together for the first time in 14 years. This program also featured a variety of memorable Eagles hits, as well as a few then-new tunes, among them “Get Over It” and “The Girl from Yesterday.”
“The Eagles are one of the most iconic and influential bands in rock history,” says AXS TV executive Lucia McCalmont. “Now, for the first time ever on our network, AXS TV viewers can relive two of the band’s most unforgettable performances…This is a great opportunity for long-time fans to fall in love with the Eagles all over again, while introducing a new generation to a band whose style and sound defined an entire era of rock ‘n’ roll.”
