Polydor

PolydorA new archival Cream box set, Goodbye Tour — Live 1968, featuring complete recordings of four shows the legendary British band played during its farewell trek, will be released February 7.

The four-CD collection includes the very last show the famed trio of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker played before their breakup, at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 26, 1968, as well as performances that took place October 4 in Oakland, California, October 19 in the Los Angeles area and October 20 in San Diego.

Goodbye Tour — Live 1968 features a total of 36 tracks, 19 which are previously unreleased. In addition, the nine songs from the Royal Albert Hall show have never been available on CD before.

All of the concerts featured similar set lists that included such classics as “White Room,” “Politician,” “I’m So Glad,” “Sunshine of Your Love” and the group’s rendition of Robert Johnson‘s “Crossroads.”

Three performances from the L.A.-area show — “I’m So Glad,” “Politician” and “Sitting on Top of the World” — first appeared on Cream’s 1969 album Goodbye, which also included three studio tracks.

If you pre-order the box set, you’ll receive an instant free download of Cream’s performance of “Sunshine of Your Love” from the Oakland show. You also can check out the track on YouTube. Order the release early and you’ll also receive a limited-edition poster.
