Shout! Factory

Shout! FactoryMasked and Anonymous, the surrealistic 2003 film starring and co-written by Bob Dylan, will be released on Blu-ray for the first time on March 10.

The darkly comic movie, which features Dylan as an enigmatic rock star named Jack Fate who’s loosely based on himself, features an all-star cast, including Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Penélope Cruz, Jessica Lange, Luke Wilson, Angela Bassett, Bruce Dern, Mickey Rourke, Val Kilmer, Cheech Marin and more.

The film is set in a dystopian future and follows Fate as he’s sprung from prison by his conniving manager so he can play a sketchy benefit show for a decaying American society. Throughout the film, various characters approach Fate, futilely seeking answers from him to the troubles that have befallen the modern world.

The movie includes a scene where Dylan performs several songs in a bar with his then-touring band, which featured guitarists Charlie Sexton and Larry Campbell.

Masked and Anonymous was directed and co-written by Larry Charles, whose credits include the Sacha Baron Cohen film Borat, and the TV shows Seinfeld, Mad About You and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The Blu-ray offers several bonus features, including a new interview with and commentary by Larry Charles, deleted scenes, a making-of feature and theatrical trailers. You can pre-order the disc now at ShoutFactory.com.
