The “Everlong” rockers, who once finished playing a show even after frontman Dave Grohl fell off the stage and broke his leg, are pushing back the first leg their upcoming 25th anniversary Van Tour due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
In a note posted to the Foo Fighters Twitter, Grohl writes, “Remember me? The guy who wouldn’t even postpone a show when my godd*** leg was falling off? Well…playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another.”
The tour, which was going to revisit stops from the first Foo Fighters tour back in 1995, was scheduled to kick off April 12 in Phoenix, Arizona. A number of the April shows have been moved to December, while new dates for others have yet to be announced. Info about the planned May dates is forthcoming.
“We f***in’ love you guys,” Grohl writes. “So let’s do this right and rain check s***.”
As for a bit of good news, Grohl says that the next Foo Fighters album, the follow-up to 2017’s Concrete and Gold, is “done” and sounds “killer.”
“The lights and stage are in the trucks, ready to go,” Grohl writes. “The SECOND we are given the go ahead, we’ll come tear s*** up like we always do. Promise.”
He adds, “Now go wash your hands.”
