The Pizza Hut project in St. Joseph Township is expected to begin this spring.

Michigan Pizza Hut’s Chad White tells us that the project is still on track, but they are awaiting the completion of some electrical work before construction can start.

“We’re moving a huge transformer and the transformer hooks up over, mainly Taco Bell,” White says. “It’s a huge project. It takes a lot of time and AEP moving some thing like that, the restaurants all have to be shut down.”

The restaurant in St. Joseph Township is projected to be a 1,400-square-foot drive-thru and carryout-only location, with the dining area being eliminated. White hopes that the demolition of the current restaurant will begin in the coming weeks.

“We’re probably gonna tear down in April, May,” White says. “As long as they don’t run into some issues that’s what that’s what I think.”

This past winter, the Pizza Hut location in Berrien Springs underwent a facelift. White says that construction is pretty much complete, and they hope to open the location by the end of April. This site will also be drive-thru and delivery only, in a much smaller space.
