Bird flu is making headlines, but many parents don’t know how to approach it with their kids.
A new poll from the University of Michigan Health has found one in three parents have taken action to protect their family against bird flu, but not all strategies are evidence-based. Poll co-director Sarah Clark said there are certain things that parents are searching for on the internet.
“[ What ] parents are looking for is, are there cases within the county? Are there cases of humans being infected from more casual interactions with animals? Are there cases of pets becoming being infected?”
Clark says you should keep an eye on the latest trends. She says the transmission is low risk for humans, so make sure to tell your children that as well, so we don’t cause any unnecessary anxiety.
