Over the weekend, hundreds of people lined streets in St. Joseph, protesting President Donald Trump and the way his administration is running the country.
Holding protest signs, draped in American flags, and seemingly organized on a grassroots level, the protest locally was held Saturday afternoon as part of an effort reflected nationally and led by a coalition of organizations representing positions on civil rights, veterans, women’s rights, labor, and LGBTQ+ policy.
The demonstrations were reportedly held at more than 1,200 locations across all 50 states by more than 150 groups. Most of the rallies appeared peaceful.
In St. Joseph, protestors lined Main Street and Lake Boulevard beginning just before noon. At one point, law enforcement tried to corral the demonstrators to only the Bluff side of Lake Boulevard, but the sheer number of people gathering spilled back onto both sides of the street for several blocks.
