Congresswoman Haley Stevens is the latest Democrat to announce she’s running for U.S. Senate.
Stevens is seeking to replace Gary Peters, who has chosen not to seek another term. She talked about her experience in a campaign announcement this week.
“I always knew I wanted to spend my life fighting for Michigan, and when the Great Recession hit and the American car industry faced extinction, I wanted to step up and do something for my state,” Stevens said. “As Chief of Staff to President Obama’s auto rescue, we helped save over 200,000 Michigan jobs and stabilize our economy.”
Stevens says she will work to bring down costs for Michigan families, continue to boost Michigan’s manufacturing and auto industries, and stand up to the Trump-Musk chaos agenda.
Other Democrats running are state Senator Mallory McMorrow and former Wayne County Department of Health, Human, and Veterans Services Director Abdul El-Sayed. Former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers is also running.
