The Lincoln Township Library is holding a contest to decorate some banners that will be posted around the village of Stevensville this summer.

Library Director Joelle Wake tells us the banners are intended to celebrate and promote the summer reading program at the library. The theme is “Color Our World,” to capture the beauty of our surroundings using vibrant color.

People can submit their artwork for our Color Our World themed street banner contest,” Wake said. “We’ll be choosing 12 designs for the display on the light posts throughout Stevensville. Anybody with a Lincoln Township public library card, residents, or reciprocal borrowers can participate.”

Wake says the contest is open to all ages, with the 12 winners to be selected from various age groups. You can pick up a paper sheet to submit artwork at the library, or you can print one out from the library’s website.

Wake is looking forward to seeing what Lincoln Township artists come up with.

We thought it would be a great idea to incorporate artists throughout the community and have a fun contest. And Kacey Dominguez, the village manager over in Stevensville, was more than happy to help us make it happen. So they will be displaying them on some of those lampposts.”

The deadline to submit is April 19, and the winners will be announced on May 15. The banners will be posted throughout downtown Stevensville in June and July.

Wake says those who enter the contest can use any medium they want, but they should try to stick to the theme. You can learn more right here.
