NCAAMBB – MSU guard Jeremy Fears thankful to play 15 months after shooting
Michigan State’s Jeremy Fears is one of the most thankful players in the NCAA Tournament. Fears was relegated to watching March Madness last year, recovering from getting shot. Fears had surgery to remove a bullet from his left thigh, cutting short his freshman season after 12 games. He bounced back to become a key player for the second-seeded Spartans, who will play 15th-seeded Bryant on Friday. Back home in Illinois during holiday break of his freshman year, Fears and a 19-year-old woman were shot by a male with a handgun after the man entered a residence and opened fire before fleeing.
NCAAMBB – Goldin is reunited with parents, hopes to show them NCAA tournament run
Michigan’s Vladislav Goldin stood alongside his fiance at Detroit Metropolitan Airport as he waited a little longer for a moment he had been looking forward to for five years. Goldin was reunited with his parents, whom he left in Russia to pursue his dreams as a basketball player. His parents watched Goldin wrap up the regular season with the Wolverines before returning home to Russia. The 7-foot-1 center hopes to give them another run to watch in the NCAA Tournament. Fifth-seeded and Big Ten Tournament champion Michigan will play 12th-seeded UC San Diego on Thursday night in Denver.

NCAAWBB – Notre Dame looks to dynamic backcourt to regain momentum
Early in the season, Notre Dame built a sparkling resume with victories against two eventual No. 1 seeds — USC and Texas — and a pair of No. 2 seeds in UConn and Duke. After losing three of their last five games, the Fighting Irish enter the NCAA Tournament with a No. 3 seed. Notre Dame (26-5) takes on No. 14 seed Stephen F. Austin (29-5) in the first round on Friday. If Notre Dame is to regain its magic, it will start with a dynamic backcourt regarded as one of the best in the nation in Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles.

NBA – Tracy Morgan says he’s OK, food poisoning caused incident at Knicks-Heat game
Tracy Morgan says he is doing OK and that food poisoning was to blame for his taking ill during Monday’s Knicks-Heat game. The actor-comedian posted an update on Instagram Tuesday morning, along with a smiling photo from a hospital bed. He thanked fans for their concern and suggested humorously that perhaps his health episode even spelled good luck for the Knicks, who won the game. The 56-year-old Morgan is a longtime Knicks fan. He took ill in the second half of Monday night’s game, interrupting the action at Madison Square Garden for more than 10 minutes while workers cleaned up the area around his seat.
NFL – Bears re-sign offensive lineman Doug Kramer to 1-year contract
The Chicago Bears have re-signed offensive lineman Doug Kramer to a one-year contract. Kramer is from the Chicago area and starred at Illinois before getting drafted by his hometown team in 2022. He has appeared in 18 games for Chicago, including 16 last season. Kramer has played guard and center and been used at fullback, mostly as a lead blocker. One notable exception was in Week 8 at Washington, and the result could not have been worse for the Bears. Former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron called for Kramer to get his first career carry at the goal line with the Bears trailing by five in the fourth quarter. Instead of scoring a go-ahead touchdown, Chicago gave the ball away when Kramer and quarterback Caleb Williams fumbled the exchange.
